Subqueries, or nested queries, are used to bring back a set of rows to be used by the parent query. Depending on how the subquery is written, it can be executed once for the parent query or it can be executed once for each row returned by the parent query. If the subquery is executed for each row of the parent, this is called a correlated subquery.
A correlated subquery can be easily identified if it contains any references to the parent subquery columns in its WHERE clause. Columns from the subquery cannot be referenced anywhere else in the parent query. The following example demonstrates a non-correlated subquery.

A standard that lets you specify a unique label for the set of element names defined by a DTD. A document using that DTD can be included in any other document without having a conflict between element names. The elements defined in your DTD are then uniquely identified so that, for example, the parser can tell when an element should be interpreted according to your DTD rather than using the definition for an element in a different DTD.

In Windows 9x, long filenames of up to 255 can be used, so they can be more in nature. When these filenames are displayed in DOS systems, they are truncated (shortened) to fit the 8.3 DOS character format and identified by a tilde character (~) followed by a single-digit number. The tilde character is placed in the seventh character position of the filename, to show that the filename is being displayed in a shortened manner, as an alias for the full-length filename. The number following the mark will have a value of 1 assigned to it unless another file has already been assigned the alias with a 1 value.
