A mechanism for defining a data format for a non-XML document referenced as an unparsed entity. This is a holdover from SGML. A newer standard is to use MIME data types and namespaces to prevent naming conflicts.

The concept of overloading in PL/SQL relates to the idea that you can define procedures and functions with the same name. PL/SQL does not look only at the referenced name, however, to resolve a procedure or function call. The count and data types of formal parameters are also considered.

Using the notation *.* tells the software to perform the designated command on any file found on the disk using any filename and extension. The * notation is called a wild card and allows operations to be performed with only partial source or destination information.

Refers to the common notation for IP addresses in the form <a.b.c.d> where each number a represents, in decimal, 1 byte of the 4-byte IP address. Also called dotted notation or fourpart dotted notation.
