(A provocative question, it is true, but it's no news to the interviewer. The question shows that you have done your research and suggests that you understand the company can't improve unless it understands what the competition does better. The hope is that you have some salient experience you can offer in this regard.)

"Inverted pyramid" is a style of writing typical in newspapers and wire services in which the most important information is placed and explained in the first few sentences or paragraphs of an article, with less and less important facts and information following downward. The style is meant to help copy editors trying to fit the article into limited space, as the article can be "cut from the bottom" without losing major relevance.

A "talk show" are shows organized principally around talk. It is the informal guest-host format, in which the show's host welcomes celebrities or other talk-worthy individuals in what is perceived as an informal discussion. The second most common format is the public affairs show, in which a host (or hosts) interview people in the news or experts in a given field. Shows that follow this format include both the morning news programs. In business point of view,  talk show  is cheap. A talk show can cost less to produce whereas many of today's dramas cost more . Thus, if successful, it can produce bountiful profits.

But,  it takes a lot of work. A lot of research backed up by a smart and spontaneous host could do wonders. Hundreds of talk shows have come and gone, with only a few having true staying power.

TRAPS:  This is a common fishing expedition to see what the industry grapevine may be saying about the company.  But it's also a trap because as an outsider, you never want to be the bearer of unflattering news or gossip about the firm.  It can only hurt your chances and sidetrack the interviewer from getting sold on you.

BEST ANSWER:  Just remember the rule - never be negative - and you'll handle this one just fine.

The biggest disadvantage is that it is a relatively small field, and the number of companies in the field is getting smaller (lots of mergers between big companies in the news lately). Also, this used to be a field where America basically had 90% of the market, but now foreign companies are catching up; this means that American companies are streamlining their organizations in order to be competitive.
