Salary is something that every worker deserves, that it is the fruit of one's hard work.

It was a challenging task dealing with both techinical and non-technical employees. You have to have skills for communicating things at a higher level when talking to the guys at the technical department, while at the same time being able to relate these ideas in simple non-technical terms to the other members of the company.

(This question lets the interviewer talk about the relative merits of promoting from within and bringing in new ideas and talent (hopefully yours!) to meet the needs of the company. A good answer is that the company is growing too fast for internal promotions to support its challenges.)
