The Dr. Watson utility provided in all Windows versions is used to trace problems that appear under certain conditions, such as starting or using a certain application. The icons for backup, ScanDisk, and Defrag are located in the Programs/Accessories/ System Tools Path. The simplest way to access the HDD tools in Windows 9x is to open My Computer, right-click on the icon for the hard disk drive you want to use, and then select from the contextual pop-up menu. just click on the Tools tab, and you have access to the three most useful HDD utilities: ScanDisk, Backup, and Defrag.

A file icon can be produced for any of the registered file types. Right-clicking on the icon will produce a pop-up menu with options to rename the icon, create a shortcut for it, and establish its properties (including its attributes).

To create a new folder in Windows Explorer, select a parent directory by highlighting it in the left window. Then click the File menu button, move the cursor to the New entry, slide across to the Folder option, and click on it. A new unnamed folder icon will appear in the rightExplorer window.
