Well I would hear what he/shes concerned about and what is the problem. Give them possible solutions on what we can do to help, if its not the solution she wants then I can address her to a manager and see how they can further her/him more in a better matter than I am.

This is not the type of thing you want to "solve." Rather you would want the student to explore why that may be the case, by asking questions. You don't want to say maybe it's because you are fat (special) or whatever.

Yes, I once adopted a friend during the time she lost her parents, until she was able to re-adjust and take care of herself. It was a feeling of self-fulfillment.
