Telemarketing is making cold calls to a list of prospects, and presenting them your product or services. Be prepared with the sales pitch, which should focus on the selling points of the product or service. Be creative. Be persistent without being pushy.

Among sports, I usually enjoy team games. I often play soccer or cricket. I am a good team player and it also gives me an opportunity to learn sportsmanship. On a more creative note, I often indulge in painting or clay-modelling. Recently I have been planning a small exhibition of my work.

Yes, you should be optimistic. You gain nothing from being pessimistic and it's a waste of energy. When you are optimistic, it is 100% easier to see opportunities when they present themselves (like a new career). If you are pessimistic, your thought process will be clouded with negative thoughts and ideas that will distract you from achieving your ultimate goals.
As far as references, there are laws that require the both parties to ask a very limited set of questions about your work history and experience. With this said, recruiters, interviewers, and managers have development code words the use to give extra information without breaking any laws. For example, if an interviewer asked a manager if you are a good performer, the manager may say that you as an employee just performed your job role - without enthusiasm in their voice. The interviewer can tell from small clues like this to form their own opinions about you and whether to hire you.
Be optimistic, hiring someone for a new job position is not as easy as it used to be. There are so many laws, regulations, and guidelines that a company must follow in order to be compliant with all local, state, and federal laws that it often slows down the hiring process. In addition, there is the financial aspect of paying another employees salary that must be taken in account. Often times, at large companies or business there is a budgetary process that must first be addressed in order to get the "head count" for new hires. This all takes time, it's not uncommon for a month or more to elapse from the first interview to the "offer" made by the company.
Whatever the outcome, if you stay positive and keep focused on working towards what you imagine you should and want to do for a career - you can do it! Enjoy the process, enjoy the work. If you can choose between liking what you do for a career or hating your job - why not choose to like your work and make the best of it? Stay positive, it's creative energy that leads you in the direction of success.
